These hand made rattles as crafted from a dried gourd, a chonta wood handle and macaw feathers. (The macaw represents grace and ease. It is the guardian, the protector of the air element and of the winds, carrying prayers to the heavens. The Bororo Tribe of Brazil considers the macaw a messenger of the gods and ancestors.) Each one is skillfully hand etched with different spirit animals such as a snake, jaguar, hummingbird, others with sacred Shipibo icaro songs. A rattle is used in a sacred ceremony to ward off spirits or energies that do not hold our best interest at heart and to move energy through the spirit and physical realms.
