This hand carved kuripé is made out of palo santo wood that is sustainably sourced from Northern Peru, with a simple yet elegant design. Palo Santo, which translated means “holy wood,” has been kept and burned as an energy cleanser for ages. Made from the highest quality wood containing essential oils that give the wood it’s deep and recognizable smell. This sacred ceremonial tool is to be used with prayer and intention to self-administer hapé.
This Kuripe is adorned with Macaw feathers, which the Tribe collects in the forest. The macaw is a sacred power animal for the Inga tribe of Putamayo, Colombia. It represents grace and ease. It is the guardian, the protector of the air element and of the winds, carrying prayers to the heavens.
The Bororo Tribe of Brazil considers the macaw a messenger of the gods and ancestors. The macaw is often a symbol of sacred union and lasting relationships.
For some Pueblos, macaw feathers represent the sun and are used in solar ceremonies. The colors of the feathers, such as red, blue, yellow, and white, are important directional colors.
Note: The feathers and leather on each kuripé will be different. You may make a noteon your order for leather preference. We will accommodate if possible.
